Terms of Business
Last updated: July 2026
This agreement is made between the person(s) making the booking (“the Client”), and MixSingh Music (“the DJ”) subject to the terms below.
1. Booking and Payment
When a booking enquiry is made, we reserve the right to accept other bookings for the date in question until the booking fee (“deposit”) is paid in full. A booking is only confirmed upon receipt of the booking fee. The booking fee is non-refundable. To confirm a booking you must also fill out the Booking Form (a link will be sent to you via email). You will then receive a booking confirmation.
1.1. The Client agrees to pay the Balance by the date of the Event via PayPal, BACS (bank transfer), cash, or any other agreed payment method. Failure to pay the Balance by this time may result in the cancellation of the booking, with the Non-Refundable Booking Fee forfeited. Payment in cash on the date of the Event must be pre-agreed with the DJ.
We reserve the right to amend, alter or correct any advertised prices or promotions on the website and printed media without any prior notice. This does not affect the fee for any already-confirmed booking.
1.2. The booking fee is non-refundable (in the case of any cancellations) from the time of booking. You may be able to transfer to an alternative date, should you wish, but this is subject to our availability and discretion. It is solely your responsibility to inform us as soon as you wish to cancel your event.
A 50% balance fee is required for any date transfer within one year of the original event; this is non-refundable. The remaining 50% balance payment is subject to the terms laid out below.
Notice given // Charge
12+ weeks // 0% of the final balance (deposit non-refundable)
2–12 weeks // 50% of the balance (booking fee non-refundable)
Less than 2 weeks // 100% of deposit and monies paid (non-refundable)
Where a date is transferred and the new date is subsequently cancelled, the notice period and charges above are calculated from the new event date, in addition to the non-refundable 50% transfer fee already paid.
1.3 Bookings for dates in December (including Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve) are non-refundable and subject to a 100% cancellation charge (full fee), regardless of notice period, due to the high demand for these dates.
2. Venue Requirements
2.1 The DJ requires adequate access to the venue before and after the Event to allow for the setup and breakdown of equipment. A minimum of 60 minutes (preferably 90 minutes) should be allowed for setting up, and 60 minutes for packing up and vacating the premises. The Client should notify the DJ of any access restrictions or limitations in advance.
2.2 The DJ requires a minimum approximate space of 4 metres wide by 2.5 metres deep for the DJ setup, to accommodate either booth or table setups. While the DJ will work with any space constraints, the Client must notify the DJ of any such constraints in advance. Failure to meet these requirements without prior notice may result in a modified service or cancellation without refund.
2.3 The Client is responsible for providing a safe, suitable, and properly earthed electricity supply. The DJ requires two 13A mains sockets (within 5 metres of the setup area). If at any point the DJ deems the electricity supply unsafe, the DJ reserves the right to delay, suspend, or terminate the performance until the issue is resolved. If the problem cannot be rectified, the DJ may cancel the Event without refund.
2.4 The Client warrants that they have the necessary permissions to use the venue for the Event and that the Event does not violate any law, by-law, or venue restriction, and that the venue holds all necessary licences for the Event (including a PRS music licence and, where alcohol is served, a liquor licence). The Client is responsible for obtaining any additional licences required specifically for the Event and agrees to indemnify the DJ against any fines, penalties, or costs arising from a failure to secure such licences. The DJ is not responsible if the venue is found to be in breach of the terms of its own licences.
2.5 In the event of engagements held outside, or in a marquee, the Client must ensure that the working area is dry, weather-protected, properly floored, and that a minimum of two 13A voltage-regulated and earthed electricity supplies are close to the setup area. The DJ reserves the right to suspend the engagement if the performance area becomes unsafe in any manner.
3. Changes to Contracted Playing Time
The standard fee covers up to 5 hours of performance before midnight, from the contracted start time.
3.1 Any Client requests for extended playing time are entirely at the DJ's discretion and subject to availability. The DJ will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests. Any extensions are subject to an additional overtime rate per hour after the agreed playing time. Payments can be made in cash or as otherwise agreed with the DJ.
Rates: Hours after midnight (excluding Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve) are charged at £50/hour up to 2am, and £100/hour thereafter. Additional hours after midnight on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are charged at £150/hour.
3.2 The standard fee assumes the DJ arrives at least 45–60 minutes before the performance start time to set up. If earlier access/setup is required (e.g. for daytime access restrictions), an additional setup fee may apply — this will be agreed in advance.
3.3 If the Client requests early termination of the entertainment, no refunds will be provided. Additionally, if the performance is terminated due to safety concerns or non-compliance with these terms, no refund will be issued.
4. Photography, Video and Media
4.1 The DJ may take photographs, video, or audio recordings at the Event for use in its own marketing and promotional materials (e.g. website, social media). This is carried out on the basis of the DJ's legitimate business interest in promoting its services. A notice will be displayed at the Event indicating that photography or recording may take place and explaining how to opt out.
4.2 Any attendee, including the Client, who does not wish to appear in such media should inform the DJ in writing or by email before the Event, or notify the DJ directly on the day. The DJ will make reasonable efforts to exclude that person from any future promotional use, though cannot guarantee removal from content already published at the time of the request.
4.3 The DJ complies with all relevant data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). No media featuring identifiable personal data will be shared with third parties without consent.
5. Data Protection
Any personal information provided by the Client (contact details, event details) will be used solely for the purpose of fulfilling this booking and will not be shared with third parties, in line with UK GDPR. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
6. Professional Conduct
6.1 The Client is responsible for providing and maintaining adequate supervision over guests at all times. Liability for any damage, loss, or theft caused by the Client, guests, venue staff, or other attendees is set out in Section 9 (Liability).
6.2 If minors (under 16 years of age) are present at the Event, the Client or parent/guardian is responsible for their behaviour and safety.
7. Insurance and Equipment
7.1 The DJ carries public liability insurance with coverage of up to £10 million. This insurance does not cover damage caused by guests, venue staff, or third-party negligence — see Section 9 (Liability) for how such claims are handled.
7.2 It is a condition of the DJ's Public Liability Insurance Policy that any venue in which the DJ works holds its own public liability insurance for the duration of the DJ's use of the venue, including periods required before and after the Event for setting up, breaking down, rehearsals, sound checks, and any other preparations.
7.3 All electrical equipment is PAT tested on an annual basis. Details are available on request.
7.4 No guest, venue staff, or unauthorised person may use, move, or tamper with any equipment belonging to the DJ without permission. The DJ cannot accept responsibility for damage to property or injury to persons arising directly from such unauthorised interference, and the Client is responsible for locating or replacing any equipment lost, stolen, or damaged as a result — see Section 9 (Liability).
8. Personal Safety and Security
If, at any time before or during the Event, the DJ deems any person, staff member, or property to be under threat — whether verbally or physically — the DJ reserves the right to suspend or terminate services immediately, without refund and without further liability. The Client will be informed of the situation as soon as reasonably possible.
9. Liability
9.1 The DJ is not liable for the actions of any third party not directly employed or contracted by the DJ. The Client is responsible for any loss, theft, or damage caused to the DJ's equipment, vehicles, or personal belongings by the Client, their guests, venue staff, or other attendees, save where such loss or damage results from the DJ's own negligence. The Client agrees to settle any such claim within 10 days of receiving notification from the DJ, along with reasonable supporting evidence of the assessed cost (e.g. an invoice, repair quote, or photographs).
9.2 The DJ is not liable for any injuries that may occur to third parties due to the actions of the Client, their guests, customers, or staff, including but not limited to injury arising from inebriation, drug use, or other self-abusive actions.
9.3 Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.
10. Force Majeure
10.1 Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform this agreement where this is caused by circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, road closures, accidents, acts of terrorism, fuel shortages, industrial action, government restrictions, or other force majeure events.
10.2 The DJ will use reasonable efforts to attend the Event. In the unlikely event that the DJ cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness or accident, the DJ will endeavour to provide a suitable substitute DJ of comparable quality and experience at no additional cost to the Client. If a substitute cannot be found, the Client will receive a full refund of all monies paid to the DJ for that Event, with no further liability attributed to the DJ.
11. Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
These Terms may be updated from time to time for future bookings. The version in force at the date your booking is confirmed will apply to your Event. E & OE.
